We Need Help With Funding & Volunteering!
We are not a government organization and we need your help and involvement to stay running. Monetary donations and volunteers are what keep us going!
Our 3 key areas of ACTION
Advocacy and activism: Just Home participates in advocacy and activism for policy reforms at local, state and federal government levels to ensure that everyone has secure shelter.
Social housing: Just Home is working with the local government, state government, community housing providers and private firms to help facilitate the development of social housing in our community.
Community engagement and awareness: Just Home supports people experiencing homelessness to connect with each other in community, with events, activities, and peer support groups.
AMR Community Action Plan for Housing Justice
Community members experiencing homelessness developed Just Home’s 10-Year Community Action Plan for Housing Justice to address and prevent homelessness and housing stress in AMR.
Our strategies for Housing Justice are:
- Strengthening support services, including increasing access to information, referrals and services in AMR and the South West, and peer support programs.
- Facilitating the development of diverse low-cost housing through State government, community housing and private housing partnerships.
- Mobilising a people’s movement to demand housing justice.
Housing Advocacy
Just Home engages in advocacy for strong policy responses to homelessness and unaffordability of housing in Augusta-Margaret River. We helped inform the Shire of Augusta Margaret River Affordable Housing Strategy, and the Homelessness and Crisis Accommodation Policy. We regularly communicate with local, state and federal governments about homelessness in our community.
Developing Low-Cost Housing in AMR
Just Home is facilitating the development of low-cost housing in Augusta-Margaret River. We are working with local organisations to explore opportunities such as a community-owned caravan park, a low-cost eco-village, affordable and sustainable units, tiny houses and other creative options.
